Thank You Kosherfest!

Together with 6,000 food industry professionals, Met Council was thrilled to attend Kosherfest, the world’s largest and most well attended kosher-certified products trade show. As the proud official charity at Kosherfest, Met Council counts on the support and generosity of the food industry to help feed hungry New Yorkers.

With overwhelming support from the hundreds of exhibitors at Kosherfest, more than 10,000 pounds of food was collected for our kosher food network. Donations this year included some of the latest food industry offerings and many staple kosher products.   Among the unique products shared with Met Council, we received JoBurg Kosher biltong from South Africa, a beautiful array of cheeses from France, artisanal breads and even vitamins.  We are thankful to Manischewitz, Oneg, David’s Cookies and Jack’s Gourmet Deli Meats and Sausages for large donations from their remaining Kosherfest samples and to the many others who donated their delicious products. The collected food at Kosherfest helped ensure that 15,000 families each month receive kosher and nutritional food.

The partnership between Kosherfest and Met Council brings together two leaders in the kosher food industry.  Met Council’s food pantry is the largest kosher food pantry in the United States, feeds 15,000 families each month.  Kosherfest is the largest kosher food industry gathering and Met Council’s largest single day food donation of the year.  Fighting hunger is a year-round effort.  Read more about our Food Network here.

At Met Council, we understand the unique challenges of affording kosher food and the importance of food for rituals. That is why all of the food throughout our system is kosher. That said, our services are available to anyone who is hungry—regardless as to whether or not they keep kosher.
