As the temperatures began to drop this winter, congregation members grew concerned over the safety of their Rabbi’s home. He was devoted to his community, but at 88-years-old he was no longer able to care for his home.
To help the frail Rabbi age in place and live safely and independently in his own home, handymen from Met Council’s Project MetroPair visited his home to provide minor home repairs. At no cost to the Rabbi, the handymen fixed the door locks, doorknobs, the outside door alignment, electricity outlets and kitchen cabinets.
In response to the repairs, the Rabbi responded, “the handyman who worked in my home was both hard-working and efficient. Your program has made a much needed improvement to the quality of my daily life”.
