The Staten Island Advance praised The Brielle at Seaview, as a “122-unit, assisted-living facility for seniors promises to be a very special place when it opens in the spring”.
To showcase the new facility, Met Council held a community preview event for The Brielle at Seaview, a new, state-of-the-art, fully licensed assisted living facility that will open in Staten Island’s Willowbrook neighborhood in spring 2015. Developed by Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty (Met Council), and managed by FilBen Group, the facility will provide a much needed home for the borough’s growing senior population.
According to the New York City Department of City Planning, within the next fifteen years the number of seniors on Staten Island is on track to surpass 100,000 individuals, making it the borough with the fastest growing senior population. The Brielle at Seaview will offer a caring, modern and high quality environment on Staten Island, enabling seniors to stay close to their family and physicians. The 103,000 square foot facility, located on a 10-acre hilltop site in Willowbrook, will feature 122 completely furnished one and two bedroom apartments containing 188 beds, 26 of which will be designated as specialized memory-care units.
“At Met Council, we believe that a safe and caring home is essential for seniors to be able to age with dignity,” said David M. Frankel, CEO and Executive Director of Met Council. “The Brielle at Seaview helps meet that need — and is an important step toward addressing the growing needs of the senior population on Staten Island. We are thrilled to work with the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Build NYC, Borough President Oddo, former Borough President Molinaro, and the New York City Council to bring this fantastic project to Staten Island.”
When opened in late spring 2015, the project will create 84 new jobs.
“The Brielle at Seaview is a modern assisted living residence that was built with the needs of residents and the community front of mind,” said Josh Benenson, Managing Director at FilBen Group. “We are pleased to offer the community an important new choice in assisted living – one that provides an active lifestyle, in an attractive setting, at surprisingly affordable rates. We look forward to our official opening in the spring.”
The Brielle at Seaview is located on the Seaview Senior Living Campus at 140 Friendship Lane. The campus also includes The Commons, a new 10,000 square foot recreational facility to which residents of The Brielle at Seaview will have access, and overnight accommodations for residents’ guests in a beautifully restored landmark building. It is the future site of independent living units for senior citizens.
Funding for the construction of The Brielle at Seaview is being provided by The New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYEDC), Build New York City Resource Corporation (Build NYC), The Staten Island Borough President’s Office, and grants from The New York City Council.
