Hundreds of rabbis, educators and social workers gathered in Jerusalem to discuss sexual abuse in the orthodox community. The international conference recruited our Clinical Director of Social Services and Director of Family Violence Services, Shoshannah Frydman, to lead a session entitled “Building Bridges between Justice Systems and Religious Communities”. The session focused on understanding the many criminal, civil, benefits and religious systems that victims encounter — systems Shoshannah and her staff help clients navigate each and every day.
This conference provided Met Council an opportunity to share our expertise and knowledge, and to join with other advocates and professionals to become better equipped to help the most vulnerable.
With the recent rise in reported domestic violence in the Jewish community, Met Council’s culturally sensitive services are in demand more than ever.
