NYC Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Council Member David Greenfield and Met Council CEO David M. Frankel Volunteer at Masbia ahead of Passover

MMV and David at Masbia 4.8.14As part of Masbia’s Annual Passover Charoset Drive, Met Council’s CEO David M. Frankel chopped up apples and walnuts with NYC Council Speaker Mark-Viverito, Council Member David Greenfield, Executive Director of Boro Park Jewish Community Council, Rabbi Yeruchim Silber and Masbia’s Executive Director Alexander Rapaport.

Charoset is served as part of the Passover seder. According to Jewish tradition, its color and texture are meant to recall the mud which the Israelites used to make bricks when they were enslaved in Egypt.

Last year, Masbia, along with help from Met Council, provided 81,473 free kosher meals to families in Boro Park, Rego Park and Flatbush.
