Met Council Takes Part in UJA’s Super Sunday

UJA super sunday 2013Met Council staff volunteered at UJA-Federation’s annual Super Sunday on December 15th, raising more than $600,000 for the charity’s annual campaign. In addition to the annual phone-a-thon Met Council AmeriCorps members helped volunteers assemble 1,000 kosher food packages to be distributed to Met Council’s food pantries.

Peter Brest, chief operating officer of Met Council, said the food packaging and distribution project “reminds us that not only do we have the family within UJA-Federation, but we have a much broader family of people and organizations in New York who are dedicated to helping the poor across cultural and religious lines.”

As he made Super Sunday calls to raise money, Brest said, “I tell them about the incredible work that UJA-Federation supports for the Jewish poor in New York and that without UJA-Federation, thousands of them would not be served.”
