Students at Met Council’s Transitional Shelter for the Homeless Raise Money for Children in Need

hot cider stand 11.20.13Ahead of the holiday season, the children of Met Council’s Hillside House held a hot cider and cold lemonade stand in order to raise money for children in need. The children at Hillside House are often recipients of charity for items such as: school supplies, back packs, Thanksgiving meals, holiday gifts, clothing, etc.  To show their gratitude the children are engaging in their own acts of charity. Establishing the act of giving and graciousness in children is extremely important and a lesson we hope they take with them well after they leave Hillside House.

Hillside House is a transitional shelter for homeless mothers and children located in Queens.
