On April 25th 2013, Met Council, partnering with the UJA-Federation of New York’s Wall Street Division, hosted a special mock interview program run by volunteers from BlackRock, a global investment management firm. Met Council was able to provide fifteen Career Services clients with personalized, one-on-one interviews with BlackRock volunteers. Their experience working at one of the country’s largest investment management corporations brought knowledge and value to our clients.
The program provided a unique opportunity for both our clients and volunteers. Unlike traditional mock interview workshops, where all clients and volunteers are placed together in a large room together, pairs were placed in separate offices to simulate an actual in-office interview experience. Our clients reported leaving the program feeling empowered and confident in their new skills and expressed strong gratitude. One client recently reported back her success in getting hired after years of unemployment and contributed her new found confidence to the one-on-one feedback from her BlackRock volunteer!
