Stop and Shop Donates Kosher Food For Rockaway Sandy Victims

Two tons of kosher for Passover food were delivered to Met Council’s JCC in Far Rockaway by Stop and Shop for victims of Hurricane Sandy. This $5,000 worth of food includes 800 pounds of matzah, a food staple for the holiday, to allow residents to observe the traditions despite the devastation.

Councilmember Donovan Richards told NY 1 that 2,000 residents of Far Rockaway are still without power and estimates that 40% of the Jewish Community’s homes were damaged by Sandy. This food will allow thousands of people in this devastated neighborhoods enjoy celebrating Passover with their families.
