Met Council and Masbia Celebrate the Jewish Communal Fund’s Generous Investment in Feeding New Yorkers in Need

A ribbon cutting took place at the event to introduce the new walk-in freezer that will allow Masbia to go from providing 100 meals each day to over 1,000 meals each day. The new delivery van was also on display. This new mode of transportation will improve efficiency and ultimately cut Masbia’s food delivery costs in half. JCF representatives also served dinner to clients after the event, seeing their contribution being immediately put to work.

JCF facilitates and promotes charitable giving to sectarian and non-sectarian organizations through donor advised funds. They enable individuals, families and groups to achieve their philanthropic goals simply and efficiently, with flexibility, full confidentiality and maximum choice. As an organization, JCF makes an annual Community Gift of more than $2 million to support programs that benefit the health and welfare of the New York Jewish community.

Masbia is a nonprofit soup kitchen network and food pantry, everyday providing hot, nutritious meals for hundreds of New Yorkers in desperate need of food. Alongside their hot-meal program, Masbia also gives out bags of much needed groceries every week to those with not enough at home, through the weekend take-home package program. Masbia works to not only feed the hungry, but to provide free, wholesome, and delicious meals for people in a restaurant-style environment, with volunteer waiters serving each person with respect and dignity.
